Buckham Memorial Library is Sensory Inclusive^TM Certified

Buckham Memorial Library has partnered with KultureCity® to enhance our ability to assist and accommodate patrons with sensory needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience for all people who visit the library. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing needs by supplying our staff with annual training and by offering resources and accommodations to our patrons.

The certification process ensures that the staff at Buckham Memorial Library are trained annually by leading medical professionals on how to recognize patrons with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation. KultureCity^® Sensory Bags, equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, strobe-cancelling glasses, weighted lap pads, and KCVIP lanyards will be available at the Circulation and Information Desks for all patrons who may feel overwhelmed by the library environment. A Quiet Area is also available in the Audio/Visual Area on the east side of the library's first floor.
