With the amount of snow we've received this year, it's vitally important residents are clearing more than just their driveways. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office has the following information to share as it relates to snow removal:
Fire Hydrants: Don’t forget about your neighborhood fire hydrant. Firefighters can’t help you in an emergency if they can’t find the hydrant. Shovel a 3-foot path around your hydrant and don’t let it get buried in the snow.
Egress Windows: Egress windows are often forgotten until there is an emergency — and when that happens it might be too late. Clear your egress windows of snow and ice. It could save a life.
Gas Meters and Vents: It's important to get your gas meter, dryer and other vents cleared of snow to ensure natural gas and carbon monoxide are not backing up into your home. Be sure to remind family and friends - it's important!
