Hwy. 60 is now open to all traffic and the detour has been removed. The contractors will still be onsite for the next couple of weeks or to complete the installation of the traffic signal system at 8th Avenue NW, install the remaining street lights and control cabinet, and finish some miscellaneous cleanup and restoration work as the weather allows. There may be temporary lane closures to accommodate this work, so please continue to pay attention to warning signs.
The contractors will also be back in the spring of 2020 to finish permanent pavement markings (the markings from Hulett Avenue to 4th Avenue are temporary as the weather didn’t cooperate to place the permanent markings), install the median island landscaping and fencing and finish any landscaping, restoration and other repairs.
Thank you to everyone for their cooperation and patience during this significant roadway project!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ABOUT HOW TO CARE FOR NEW CONCRETE:
For property owners with new concrete sidewalk and/or driveways on/adjacent to their properties, please LIMIT YOUR SALT USAGE during this first winter as much as possible. These new concrete surfaces are still considered very “green” and are much more susceptible to damage from salt usage than concrete that has been in place for a couple of years. Limiting salt usage the first year or two on new concrete greatly improves the chances of the concrete maintaining a nicer condition for a longer period of time. The City appreciates your help in protecting everyone’s investment in this new roadway.
