The Faribault Police Department held its annual department-wide meeting Oct. 25, and was able to honor a detective with a Distinguished Service Medal of Honor and number of other officers and support staff with written commendations. See below the various honors.

Detective Josh Sjodin - Tactical Operation and Verbal De-Escalation During Arrest of Dangerous Suspect
In March 2023, Detective Josh Sjodin, during a tactical operation, successfully demonstrated the ability to use verbal communication with an incredibly uncooperative and armed suspect. Sjodin exemplified with excellence the ability to de-escalate the situation and convince the individual to submit to arrest without the use of force being necessary.
