For the 132nd year, the Faribault Parks and Recreation Department is once again excited to reveal to the public its Concerts in the Park Series lineup.
The series benefits the Faribault area by building on its
reputation as an inviting, art-friendly town, and substantially enlarges and
enhances leisure options, while also creating additional opportunities to
socialize.
After garnering feedback from attendees last year, Park and
Rec. continued to book some of the staple bands that have been a part of the series
for years, but also sought out new bands that match genres attendees felt were
missing. These include bluegrass and country rock, to name a few.
While the music certainly is the focal point for locals, the crowds seem to impress the musicians, too.
New this year is an 11th concert to be held at River Bend Nature Center in conjunction with the organization’s 40th Anniversary. Park and Rec. will also be offering two visual art classes, and a hands-on music program to youth prior to some of the concerts to attract younger populations.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
